XCard is a competitive card game for two players. Each player takes on the role of an entrepreneur and tries to run and grow their company better than their opponent – a true business duel with high stakes.

Game Resources

10 Gems

These are the main resource. Players gain gems by playing specific cards. The first player to collect 7 gems wins the game.

10 Health Points

They represent the health of the company. Health points can be lost through attack cards or restored through health cards. If a player’s health drops to 0, they lose the game.

5 Gem cards

These cards allow players to collect additional gems and are crucial for a resource-based victory.

  • 3 cards worth 1 gem each
  • 2 cards worth 2 gems each

5 Health Cards

These help restore lost health points to stay in the game.

  • 3 cards worth 1 health point each
  • 2 cards worth 2 health points each

5 Manipulation Cards

  • 2 cards: Opponent must place 1 card back onto the deck
  • 2 cards: You draw 1 card from the deck
  • 1 card: Opponent loses 1 gem

5 Attack Cards

Used to directly reduce the opponent’s health.

  • 3 cards with -1 health point
  • 2 cards with -2 health points

Area Cards

These are the game zones where cards are placed. The color of the card must match the color of the area.

Gameplay

Objective

Use your cards strategically, keep your company healthy, and collect gems. The first player to either collect 7 gems or reduce the opponent’s health points to zero wins the game.

Setup

  1. Place the four area cards in a row between the players (the play zone).
  2. To decide who starts, each player draws cards from the deck until one draws a gem card – that player goes first.
  3. Then all drawn cards are returned to the deck and the deck is reshuffled.
  4. Cards may only be played in the area of the matching color.
  5. Give each player 3 cards (face down). Place the remaining cards as a draw pile in the center.
  6. Each player starts with 3 health points and 1 gem. The remaining resources are kept as a reserve next to the area cards.

Turn structure

Each turn consists of two steps:

  1. Draw 1 card from the deck
  2. Perform two of the following actions in any order:
    • Draw an additional card
    • Play a card in a matching-colored area (facing you) and activate it
    • Activate a card you placed in a previous turn (only starting from your second turn, and each card may only be activated once per turn)

Then it’s the next player’s turn.

The game ends as soon as one player collects 7 gems or reduces the opponent’s health to zero.
